Iowa fans already knew that Phil Parker was one of the best assistant coaches and coordinators in all of college football. The long time Hawkeye defensive coordinator was finally rewarded for his incredible work by winning the Broyles Award back in December. The Broyles Award is given annually to the top assistant coach in college football and as the committee member explained, this was long overdue for Parker, who continues to be a great defensive coordinator at Iowa.
