Amazon boss Andy Jassy has criticized competition regulators in Brussels and Washington for torpedoing his company's purchase of robot vacuum cleaner pioneer iRobot. Jassy pointed out on Thursday that iRobot was struggling to keep up with Chinese rivals after the deal was cancelled. He also raised concerns about data security, because modern vacuum-cleaner robots create a 3D scan of the home. "Really, what Western regulators were saying is that they trust these two large Chinese companies with maps of the inside of US consumers' homes more than they do Amazon," Jassy complained in an interview...

Washington (AFP) - Amazon on Monday said it was dropping its plans to buy the iRobot vacuum maker after the EU's antitrust authority objected to the plan over competition concerns. The news sent shares in iRobot into a tailspin, and the device maker followed the announcement of the failed deal with a restructuring plan that would see 350 jobs, or 30 percent of the company, laid off and the departure of its CEO. "We're disappointed that Amazon's acquisition of iRobot could not proceed," said David Zapolsky, Amazon SVP and General Counsel. The EU in July opened an antitrust investigation into Am...

"Over many years, the iRobot team has proven its ability to reinvent how people clean with products that are incredibly practical and inventive," said Amazon senior vice president of devices Dave Limp. Amazon's...

iRobot Moves Up On Fed “Soft Landing” OutlookShares of iRobot (NASDAQ:IRBT) have been in a steady downtrend for the last several quarters due to the mounting issues of supply chain hurdles and inflationary pressures. The biggest risk for the company and the global economy was the Fed and the Fed gave the market what it wanted, and an outlook for soft-landing. In that scenario, iRobot should be able to start regaining traction with microchips, components, shipping delays, and inflation but there is a risk. With inflation still on the rise and new data expected out shortly we see the Fed increas...
