Make that three Kentucky commits withdrawing from the 2024 NBA Draft. Soon after transfer prospects Amari Williams (Drexel) and Lamont Butler (San Diego State) pulled their names from the draft pool on Tuesday, Andrew Carr (Wake Forest) did the same, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. Carr, a 6-foot-11 forward, will suit up for one final season of college basketball and will do so with Kentucky in 2024-25. During the 2023-24 season at Wake Forest, Carr averaged 13.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 32.5 minutes per outing. He shot 52.6 percent from the floor, 37.1 pe...

A transfer from San Diego State, Lamont Butler was officially announced as a member of the upcoming Kentucky men’s basketball season all the way back on April 27. That being said, his status as a future Wildcat technically remained up in the air. That changed this week though. On Tuesday afternoon, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported that Butler has officially withdrawn his name from the 2024 NBA Draft pool, paving the way for him to join Kentucky this summer and play in the 2024-25 season. Butler is the second Kentucky commit from earlier in the offseason to withdraw his name from the draft ...

Mark Pope is locked in as the new Kentucky men’s basketball head coach. Well, we already knew that, but details for his contract with the University were made available to the public on Tuesday. Pope’s deal with Kentucky began on April 12, 2024, and will end on March 31, 2029. Over that five-year span, he’ll earn $27.5 million ($5.5 million per year) with his first-year salary set at $5 million. Pope’s salary will increase by $250,000 per season throughout the duration of the deal. Additionally, there are plenty of incentives baked into Pope’s contract. If Kentucky makes a Sweet 16 appearance,...

Mark Pope’s hard work has paid off in his fight for Drexel forward Amari Williams, who will now officially be a Kentucky Wildcat in 2024-25. First, it was landing the three-time CAA Defensive Player of the Year’s commitment to begin with — Pope’s first transfer addition as head coach. Then, a follow-up flight to Philadelphia to solidify that pledge amid concern ahead of the portal deadline he may be reopening his recruitment following the signing of Oklahoma State’s Brandon Garrison and Utah State’s Great Osobor decision to head elsewhere, ultimately landing at Washington. Now, the final step ...

Good morning, friends. For most of you, today is the first day back at work after the long Memorial Day weekend. For me, it’s my second day back at work after a ten-day trip to Tuscany. I spent Monday catching up on what I missed in the world of UK sports and KSR. Today, it’s fully back into the fire as we prepare for Kentucky Baseball to start its journey to Omaha, the SEC begins its annual Spring Meetings in Destin, and I make the short trek to downtown Nashville for a very special event. If you were on the lake or at the pool all day yesterday, you missed some news. Let’s start our rundown ...

Happy Memorial Day, folks. I hope you all are spending this day enjoying the weather and grilling up something delicious, preferably on a pool deck with family and loved ones. That’s currently where this post is being written as I prepare to head up I-65N toward Indianapolis for Game 4 between the Celtics and Pacers, hoping Boston pulls off the sweep inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse. I’ll be there rooting on my C’s later tonight, but until then, how about some afternoon notes? Coming your way now, BBN. Coach Cal brings alternate reality to FayettevilleThis season was already going to be weird cons...

The basketball world has lost an icon. NBA and broadcasting legend Bill Walton has passed away at the age of 71 after a long battle with cancer, the NBA announced this afternoon. On the court, Walton was a two-time NBA champion and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer, leading UCLA to national championships in 1972 and 1973. His storied playing career was matched only by his career after it. In 2002, Walton joined ESPN as a lead analyst for NBA games before switching over to college basketball in 2012. He made another name for himself as a zany color commentator alongside longtime announcing part...

Kentucky basketball had gone 11 years without a Final Four and needed a shot in the arm. They needed an overnight resurgence, and there was only one man who could deliver that. So for several days, thousands of diehards logged online to watch a 360P lo-resolution live stream of a door in hopes one John Calipari would emerge. And emerge, he did. In his first six years as head coach, Coach Cal went 22-4 in the NCAA Tournament, tying none other than Rick Pitino for the best stretch of 26 tournament games by a Kentucky coach. And in that stretch, Calipari would lead the Wildcats to four banners hu...

After exploring his options out of the portal — one being USC under Eric Musselman — it appears DJ Wagner will be following John Calipari to Arkansas. According to Richard Davenport of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the former five-star recruit committed to the Razorbacks this weekend, joining Zvonimir Ivisic, Adou Thiero, Boogie Fland, Karter Knox and Billy Richmond among players who would have likely made up the core of Kentucky’s roster in 2024-25 before Coach Cal’s departure. Now, they’ll all be in Fayetteville with the likes of Calipari, Chin Coleman, Chuck Martin and Brad Calipari, runni...

Make that two Caliparis officially on the payroll in Fayetteville — a pretty significant promotion for one. Brad Calipari, a former Kentucky guard and the son of Coach Cal, has been named an assistant coach at Arkansas while also earning the title of director of on-court player development, the Razorbacks announced. His move to Fayetteville was previously reported, but finally confirmed by the program this week. Calipari previously spent time working in player development at Vanderbilt and Long Island, earning his first high-major gig under Jerry Stackhouse this past year before he was let go ...
