When Paula Motta discovered medical cannabis in 2017, it was still illegal in Portugal. Her 10-year-old daughter suffered epileptic episodes up to four times a day - some lasting 20 minutes - while the 16 daily pills she was taking were ineffective against her Dravet syndrome. German lawmakers are set to debate and vote on legislation that would make cannabis legal for personal use in the country. The new law would allow the possession of 50g of cannabis for private consumption and growing up to three plants. In public, adults would be allowed to have up to 25g of cannabis. The draft law would also allow for non-commercial cultivation and the controlled distribution of the drug by cannabis clubs.
