While speaking to reporters from Saints rookie minicamp on Saturday, Rattler explained why will wear the number during his rookie season. “It was just the number I got,” Rattler said. “That’s what I ended up with.” A reporter then asked if it had anything to do with Saints legendary quarterback Archie Manning who wore No. 8 for the team in the 1970s and 1980s. “Oh no, it’s just the number I had to roll with,” Rattler said. Another reporter asked the formerSouth Carolina Gamecocks quarterback if he liked...

Jayden Daniels will forever be No. 5 at LSU, winning a Heisman Trophy with the Tigers due to his performance during the 2023 season. He was eventually drafted by the Washington Commanders with the No. 2 overall pick, becoming the face of the franchise. Only issue for Daniels — the No. 5 was already worn by somebody on the roster. Punter Tress Way has been with the organization since 2014 and has worn the number since he was a rookie. Usually, there is some kind of cash exchange in order to get a star player a certain number. Way went in a different direction, though. He gave up the number to W...

On Wednesday morning’s live On3 YouTube show, Andy Staples and Cody Bellaire took on the mountainous task of evaluating the ceiling and floor for each SEC football team heading into the first year of the expanded conference. When it came to Oklahoma in their first year with the SEC, they had some serious questions about the offensive line and OU’s young QB behind it. However, there’s also a lot to like about the talent in other spots, plus, the Sooners do have a path to a hot start in 2024. Let’s start with the optimism. The SEC will welcome two new programs to the league this fall, but while Texas has sucked up all the oxygen in the conference realignment deck shuffling, Oklahoma quietly has one of the most interesting teams in the country in 2024. Coming off a 10-3 season in Year 2 under Brent Venables, the Sooners will make the transition to a new conference with a new starting quarterback (former 5-star phenom Jackson Arnold), a pair of new coordinators (former North Texas head coach Seth Littrell with Joe Jon Finely and Zac Alley at DC) and five new starting offensive linemen. Oklahoma’s schedule is bruta...

Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables is pretty confident in the quarterback depth going into the 2024 season, led by Jackson Arnold this year. Arnold is the crown jewel of the room, a former five-star and ready to take the leap. But he’ll be backed up by Michael Hawkins and veteran Casey Thompson. It’s a vast difference between Dillon Gabriel and a true freshman Arnold last fall. “I feel better than, really with Dillon by himself last year and Jackson, you know, being a true freshman where he was,” Venables said. “We felt great about Dillon and, and there’s a lot of unknown after Jackson and I f...
