A police spokesman, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of an ongoing investigation, said the body was found on a rocky coast by a private boat and that formal identification was pending. By Sunday morning the search and rescue operation had focussed on a network of water-filled tunnels on a rocky area near the coastal town of Agia Marina. It's believed Mosley apparently set off on a walk along a nearby coastal path on Wednesday afternoon and had been missing ever since. Mosley is well-known in Britain for his regular appearances on television and radio and for his column in the Daily ...

Senior figures from seven of the UK's major political parties have roundly condemned prime minister Rishi Sunak for his decision to leave D-Day commemoration events in Normandy early. The party figures were speaking at the first televised debate ahead of next month's general election. Conservative Party MP Penny Mordaunt said she thought the decision was "completely wrong" but defended Sunak by explaining that he had apologised for the time of his departure. "The Prime Minister has rightly apologised for that, apologised to veterans but also to all of us because he was representing all of us,"...

It can be said that sex is a deeply political act. Who we have sex with and how are both political questions. But can politics itself be sexy? Well, as the UK general election draws near, advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi have designed a new wonderfully promiscuous campaign to get young people to the polling booths and register by 18 June. Their bold proposition? Voting makes you sexier. Backed by new research commissioned just for the campaign, it turns out that 40% of 18-24 year-olds perceive regular voters as more attractive. Moreover, over half of the respondents associate voting with g...

The UK has seen clothing and footwear exports to the EU fall significantly post-Brexit, according to a report by the online marketplace Tradebyte and consultancy Retail Economics. This is mainly due to increasing red tape and stricter border regulations. Footwear and clothing exports to the EU have dropped more than 50% from 2019 levels, to £2.7 billion (€3.17 billion) in 2023. In comparison, back in 2019, it was £7.4 billion. In turn, this has led to non-food goods exports to the EU single market falling 18%. This decrease is despite the European e-commerce market being very well developed. A...

American pop star Britney Spears is drawing... And she’s good. To the surprise of everyone, the singer, 42, took to Instagram to show off a sketch of what appears to be a pair of iconic UK buildings: St Martin's Church and the Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham. She captioned it: 'Just a pen and church!!!' Quite why she’s done this is a mystery, and it's unknown whether Britney has any connection to Birmingham. She probably based it off a photograph, as opposed to visiting the sites, as she was posting recently that she'd been on a “wild” trip to Las Vegas. Spears last visited Birmingham i...

World War II veterans joined heads of state and others to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day on Thursday. The Allied invasion, which began on 6 June, 1944, led to the defeat of the Nazis and the end of the war. The assault on the beaches began with Allied aircraft bombing German defenses in Normandy, followed by around 1,200 aircraft that carried airborne troops. As dawn broke, Allied forces started bombing German coastal defenses and shortly after that vessels began putting troops ashore on five codenamed beaches: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword. By the end of the day, nearly 160,000...

Populist Brexit-backer Nigel Farage was doused with what appeared to be a milkshake as he kicked off his campaign on Tuesday for the Britain’s July 4 general elections. He had just left a pub in the eastern seaside town of Clacton-on-Sea where he had been speaking to the media, when a bystander threw the drink over him. Police say they have arrested a 25-year-old woman from Clacton on suspicion of assault. The populist politician and former European Member of Parliament is making his eighth attempt at winning a seat in the House of Commons. After initially saying he would not stand in the elec...
