After lead singer Chris Cornell‘s death in 2017, his former band Soundgarden planned to release their final recordings with the late singer but were halted by Cornell’s widow, Vicky Cornell. In 2019, Vicky sued Soundgarden in federal court over royalties regarding the last recordings her husband had made which she claimed were an independent project whereas the band claimed were part of the group effort.
