The Virginia Tech Hokies and head coach John Szefc had their smiles and an early 5-0 lead over the Duke Blue Devils wiped away with a huge six-run rally in the bottom of the third inning. As the two squads prepared for the 4th inning, the ACC network crew caught up to Szefc to get his thoughts on starting pitcher Wyatt Parliament’s first two innings on the mound. “He was,” said Szefc when asked if Parliament was good to open the contest. “He was good early; he was in the zone, got some carry to his fastball, and he did a good job for us out of the gate. And, as you said, that last inning kinda...

After a rough go for Taylor Tinsley to start the day in the circle for UCLA, head coach Kelly Inouye-Perez turned to freshman Kaitlyn Terry to stem the tide. And she managed just that as the Bruins tried to work back from a 4-0 deficit. Playing in the winners bracket of the Los Angeles Regional, hosted by the Bruins, UCLA had a bit of margin beyond just Saturday’s game against Virginia Tech. But after pulling back two runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, Inouye-Perez felt her squad turning the tide. “I think the most important thing is being able to find a way to at least get on the board, to...

Greg McElroy is beginning to believe in Brent Pry and the Virginia Tech Hokies ahead of the 2024 college football campaign. He knows it won’t be easy for the Hokies, but McElroy believes there’s an opportunity for Virginia Tech in the ACC moving forward. Will it present itself as early as 2024? He evaluated the chances of that happening on the latest episode of his Always College Football show. “The likelihood, what is the probability of Virginia Tech competing in the ACC, for the championship? I actually put this at 5 (out of ten). Now, people are going to push back, and this is not at all di...

One of the trendier teams in the ACC a few months away from the season is Virginia Tech. Head coach Brent Pry turned things around in the back half of 2023, going 6-3 after starting the year with three losses in four games. That includes a bowl win for the first time since 2016. Momentum is seemingly on their side and when looking at the schedule, there are a ton of winnable games for Virginia Tech. ESPN’s David Hale is hesitant to count some of them as chalk for now, based on the early blunders from last season. But if the Hokies perform how we expect, wins are certainly there for the taking....

Virginia Tech softball coach Pete D’Amour does not want to get ahead of himself when it comes to the NCAA Tournament. First up, it’s San Diego State on Friday in the Los Angeles Regional, hosted by UCLA. But D’Amour does not want to look ahead if the Hokies can get out there and get to the Super Regional. It’s a cliche, but it’s true. One game at a time. “I mean, you all know me well enough where we’re day to day,” D’Amour said. “And so we had coach (Huemul) Mata and coach (Mike) Lewis throw against our kids today and we scored a bunch of runs. And you just gotta keep reminding the players tha...

Ahead of the NCAA Tournament, Virginia Tech softball coach Pete D’Amour reacted to the draw his Hokies got this season. Virginia Tech is going to be traveling across the country to compete in the Los Angeles Regional. That group is highlighted by UCLA. Along with those Bruins, San Diego State and Grand Canyon are the other two teams in the Regional, making the Hokies the only East Coast team in that draw. It’s an interesting Region and one that D’Amour likes to this point. Still, he also added that the Hokies need to take more time to get ready for those matchups. “I like it so far,” Pete D’Am...

The Virginia Tech Hokies are hosting Miami in an ACC battle on the diamond. While business is being taken care of on the field, some of the Hokies players seized an opportunity to have a little fun during a mid-game interview with freshman pitcher Brett Renfrow. At the bottom of the fifth, the ACC network team covering Saturday’s matchup interviewed the Virginia Tech freshman right-handed pitcher. And while they were picking the brains of the Hokies pitcher, his teammates decided to have a little fun at his expense. During the interview, the rest of the Virginia Tech bullpen could be seen poki...

A large portion of the Virginia Tech fan base was upset when Georgia Amoore made the decision to follow Kenny Brooks to Kentucky. Amoore, Brooks and three-time ACC Player of the Year Liz Kitley accomplished incredible things during their time in Blacksburg, including leading Virginia Tech to its first Final Four in school history. However, all three are now gone as Kitley is off to the WNBA, while Amoore and Brooks left for Kentucky after the 2023-24 season. Kitley and Amoore spoke on the Queens of Cassell podcast recently and shared that they are upset with the reaction from Virginia Tech fan...
