'Serious mistake': Nuno baffled by something he saw during Nottingham Forest defeat

Nottingham Forest had coach Nuno Espirito Santo ripped into the standard of match officials following another error from the referee against Brighton.

Forest were beaten 1-0 and after the game, the head coach spoke with Nottinghamshire Live.

So, what did the boss see that left him infuriated? Let’s take a closer look…

What Nuno Espirito Santo said about referee Michael Salisbury

Well, another week and another error that has left Forest absolutely perplexed with Jakub Moder making a frankly astonishing tackle on Neco Williams.

The referee showed a yellow card on the pitch and after a lengthy VAR check, he was told not to upgrade it to a red card.

It was a clear red card and Espirito Santo has taken a swipe at the match officials after the game.

He told Nottinghamshire Live: “It’s a red card. It’s a serious mistake – we don’t know how the game would go, but today in football having an extra player on the pitch makes a big difference.

“We were on top of the game. We were dominant and were creating problems for Brighton.

“It’s a bad decision of the VAR. I don’t only judge the referee, but I saw the image and it’s a clear red card.”

Enough is enough

It’s impossible to be confident in the match officials in this country when they constantly make stupid errors.

Quite how Michael Salisbury didn’t deem this one a red card on the field is baffling but for the VAR to not correct his error is just baffling.

Forest will have to lick their wounds again and prepare themselves to receive another apology from the PGMOL.

It simply isn’t good enough from Forest’s point of view and Espirito Santo is right to be absolutely raging.

The Reds go to Luton Town next Saturday and hopefully, a change in fortunes can come in the direction of Forest.
