Kelvin Wilson has been explaining why he thinks Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo made such a bizarre substitution on Sunday against Brighton.
The former defender has been speaking to the Forest Focus podcast.

Well, this comment came on the back of Forest head coach Espirito Santo choosing to replace Morgan Gibbs-White with Cheikhou Kouyate in the 87th minute.
The Reds were chasing the game and bizarrely the number 10 came up on the fourth official’s board – much to the dismay of the fans in the stadium and the ones tuning in at home.
Wilson believes that it was merely a case of horses for course, with Forest choosing to go route one during the closing stages of the contest.
He told the Forest Focus podcast: “I’m not a manager but yes, you look at it from the outside and it looks a bit like panic stations now trying all sorts just to figure out what is right.
“The only thing I can think of with Gibbs-White is that they were going to go route one and Kouyate is a big guy. That’s the only sense I can make of it. It was a bit confusing.”
Espirito Santo must learn from latest defeat
Since he came to the City Ground, Espirito Santo hasn’t done a lot wrong – but on Sunday he got things badly wrong as Forest lost again.
With Luton to come on the horizon, Forest have to get their act together and ultimately the remit of reviving the fortunes falls into the lap of Espirito Santo.
Wilson is right with these comments – and he shares the sentiments of pretty much every supporter who found the decision over Gibbs-White bizarre.
Taking him off when chasing a game just didn’t make sense and with other attacking options on the bench, the fact he turned to Kouyate just didn’t make sense.
We can only hope Espirito Santo learns from this truly bizarre Forest situation…
