Just 9% of global plastic is recycled, according to OECD estimates. Even in countries where waste is sorted into recycling bins, the vast majority of plastics still ends up in landfills or incinerators.
And yet from a bowl of pasta to a cup of coffee to go, it's hard to consume anything without generating plastic waste - or is it?
