Saudi money could come to the rescue for West Ham and it would majorly bail out Moyes - view

West Ham United could be bailed out by Saudi money this summer, and it would paper over a very big mistake made by David Moyes.

David Moyes has to sign numerous players in different positions for West Ham this summer, but in order to do that, he needs to makes some sales as well.

The Scot has made some incredible signings over the past couple of years, but for every Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus, there has been a Nayef Aguerd and a Danny Ings.

Aguerd in particular was a really poor signing. Moyes brought him to the London Stadium from Rennes for £30 million in 2022 (BBC) but he has proven to be an awful fit for the Premier League.

The Moroccan is already being heavily linked with an exit from West Ham in the summer, and it would be no surprise to see him elave.

However, getting anything like the £30 million that we paid for him will be incredibly hard, unless a Saudi club come in for him…

Saudi money could come to the rescue for West Ham

Clubs from the Saudi Pro League were heavily linked with signing Aguerd in the January transfer window, but he remained at the London Stadium in the end.

Now, we all know just how wealthy clubs in Saudi Arabia are – they’ve been very bullish over the past year or so with some of their acquisitions.

So perhaps our only hope of achieving a decent fee for Aguerd is a Saudi club coming in and splashing the cash.

One thing’s for sure, there won’t be any Premier League clubs keen to sign him. Maybe a move back to France could be on the cards, but we’d be lucky to get £15 million for the Morocco international from a Ligue 1 side.

He doesn’t have the concentration levels, positional awareness or discipline to play as a central defender in the Premier League

Aguerd is incredibly weak in the challenge, and seems to get bullied by opposing players on a regular basis.

The Hammers defender has become a target for the opposition time and time again, and that is causing us major problems now.

West Ham definitely should be looking to sell Aguerd as soon as possible, and that Saudi money would come in really handy this summer.

If we did manage to get back what we spent on the former Rennes defender, Moyes would really save face!
