‘The perfect choice’: Pundit says 39-year-old manager would be better than Xabi Alonso for Liverpool

Liverpool need to find a new manager this summer.

Jurgen Klopp is getting ready to clear out his office at Anfield, and it won’t be long before there’s a new man sitting behind the manager’s desk.

So, who will this new gaffer be? Well all the suggestions seem to point towards the frontrunner for the job being Xabi Alonso.

Indeed, the Spaniard has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield, and it is thought that Liverpool are very keen on hiring him.

However, speaking on CBS, Nigel Reo-Coker has offered up an alternative view on who should be the next Liverpool boss.

The pundit says that Ruben Amorim would be the perfect fit for Liverpool, claiming that he has a great history of working with young players and helping to develop them.

Ruben Amorim would be perfect for Liverpool

Reo-Coker shared his verdict on the gaffer.

“I state my case for Ruben Amorim. For me the Sporting manager is a fantastic candidate because he has a history of working with young players and developing them. That is the history of Sporting. He has a win percentage of 69%, before at Braga it was 73%. Klopp’s at Liverpool is 63%. I believe he is the perfect choice,” Reo-Coker said.

Ruben Amorim is great with young players

Ruben Amorim may not be the biggest name in management, but make no mistake about it, he’d be a decent choice for any club right now.

He’s worked wonders with Sporting over the past few years, and he’s really helped to develop some young stars within the game.

The likes of Matheus Nunes, Goncalo Inacio and Marcus Edwards have all become stars under Amorim’s tutelage, and with Liverpool having such a wealth of talented young players on their hands right now, perhaps a manager with these principles and abilities is exactly what the Reds need as they move into the post-Klopp era.

It remains to be seen what Liverpool do this summer in their search for a new manager.
