'I do believe': Real Madrid could try to sign £75m 'superstar' Postecoglou wants at Tottenham - journalist

Tottenham’s bid for new players this coming summer could see them come up against one of the biggest names in the game, Real Madrid.

Spurs will be hoping to add a number of new signings over the summer months. After a successful year in charge for Ange Postecoglou, there’s a real belief at the club now that things can progress further.

Of course, Spurs are already being linked with moves for a number of players. The likes of Albert Gudmundsson have got a mention, while Timo Werner is another under consideration for a permanent deal.

As the months tick by, there’ll no doubt be more and more players linked to Tottenham.

One player who has already had a mention as being a player admired by Spurs is Everton’s defender, Jarrad Branthwaite. Tottenham are apparently big fans of the £75m-rated ‘superstar‘.

However, according to journalist Dean Jones, Branthwaite’s talent is as such that he believes Real Madrid might come knocking as well.

Real Madrid could try to beat Tottenham to Jarrad Branthwaite signing

Speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Jones has said that right now, Real Madrid simply cannot be ruled out when it comes to signing Branthwaite.

“In the event that he does actually make a transfer, I would be cautious about ruling out Real Madrid. I’m not saying they are favourites to sign him, but I do believe their interest in him is genuine and it does make some sense. Carlo Ancelotti not only knows him from when he was at Everton, but gave him his debut. He rated him back then and is apparently impressed by the way he has continued to grow,” Jones said.

“I think the fact that Branthwaite has spent time on loan at PSV also says a lot about him as a person and puts extra faith in the fact he could adapt to playing in a different country. At the moment, it still makes more sense that he would end up at another Premier League club, but if we are to look at another option, I do believe Real Madrid’s intent to be real.”

Tottenham are expected to be busy in the summer but whether they can afford a player like Branthwaite remains to be seen.

For Everton, it will be about maximising the sale the best they can.
