Report: Chelsea now plotting talks to potentially sign Arsenal star Ian Wright has called 'fantastic'

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale faces an uncertain future at the Emirates Stadium amid links with Chelsea.

The Gunners stopper – currently said to be a Blues target – was loving life at the north London club, his position as No. 1 seemingly under no threat.

Ramsdale had joined Arsenal in 2021 for a reported £30million and quickly dethroned Bernd Leno to become first-choice in between the sticks.

However, Arsenal signed David Raya in the summer, and it wasn’t long before the Spaniard became the club’s first-choice stopper.

Now, it looks like Chelsea are looking to make contact with Ramsdale’s camp ahead of a potential summer swoop.

According to Sportslens, the Blues intend to touch base with the 25-year-old Arsenal keeper’s camp over the situation towards the end of the season.

The report also claimed that Chelsea see Ramsdale as a ‘step up’ ahead of Robert Sanchez and Djorje Petrovic in terms of becoming a No. 1.

Chelsea also like the fact that the Arsenal ace would count as a homegrown player, added the report.

Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale would be a good shout for Chelsea – opinion

It’s unlikely that Ramsdale stays put at the Emirates Stadium past this season. He’s far too good to be a No. 2 and would get into most Premier League clubs’ starting XIs.

And with Ramsdale having aspirations of being his country’s number one, he would certainly need to play elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Chelsea still have a lot of work to do, and they could surely do with a stronger option in between the sticks.

Ramsdale would be a great addition to the Stamford Bridge ranks.

He’s a ‘fantastic’ keeper – in Ian Wright’s words – who has proven himself in the English top flight and still has many years ahead of him.

Arsenal reportedly want to recoup the initial £24million they spent to sign him from Sheffield United back in August 2021, so he could also be quite cheap for Chelsea.
