Mesut Ozil impresses Cristiano Ronaldo
Well, it was Mesut Ozil who impressed the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
The German has been focusing on gym work after Mikel Arteta terminated his contract at Arsenal back in January 2021 – he is now almost twice the size he was during his time at the Emirates Stadium.
On Friday, Ronaldo – who also prides himself on fitness – happened to stumble across a video posted by Ozil five weeks ago showing himself working hard in the gym, and decided to leave a comment.
The 39-year-old wrote “bro not bad 😉” in the comments section on his old Real Madrid teammate’s video.
Ronaldo is clearly impressed by Ozil’s transformation in the last few years, and it is hard to ignore the 35-year-old’s physical development.
The man from Gelsenkirchen has followed the likes of Fernando Torres in becoming a powerhouse since moving away from professional football – just imagine if he possessed this much strength during his time at Arsenal!
Such power – combined with immense vision and world class technical ability – arguably would have made Ozil an even better player.

Some pundits have suggested that people don’t actually remember how good Ozil was for Arsenal because of the way things ended in north London, and it’s true.
The German was quite simply outstanding for the Gunners, hitting the ground running with an assist just 11 minutes into his Premier League debut and never looking back.
In total, Ozil scored 44 goals and provided 79 assists in 254 appearances for Arsenal, winning the FA Cup on four occasions along with two FA Community Shields.
Regardless of his fallout with Arteta, he is undoubtedly one of the best footballers in Arsenal’s history.
