'He's capable': Heurelho Gomes says 35-year-old former teammate could easily manage Tottenham in the future

Tottenham aren’t exactly looking for a new manager right now given how well Ange Postecoglou has done.

The Aussie has made a huge impression on the club and there is a real feeling at Tottenham that they are going places under the former Celtic boss.

Postecoglou will be hoping to bring some form of success to Spurs in the form of trophies. From there, it’s a case of who knows but someone somewhere down the line will need to pick up the mantle.

Of course, that could be some time away. But according to former Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, his ex-Spurs teammate and fellow Brazilian, Sandro, is more than capable of doing the job.

Sandro tipped to become Tottenham manager

Sandro was part of the same Tottenham squad as goalkeeper Gomes back in 2014.

And when asked by Chris Cowlin about Sandro’s comments of dreaming about being Tottenham manager, Gomes was under no illusions as to his friends capabilities in the dugout.

“He’s capable of it. I think the way he…normally I speak to him about football…they way he speaks about football in the way he can put it, is different. But the way he thinks about football yes, he can become a very very good manager,” Gomes said.

Tottenham job is always sought after

There is a definite affinity with former players and Tottenham. We seem to see it a lot in the media and Gomes and Sandro are just two ex players who seem to crop up.

As for Sandro taking the Tottenham job, well, who knows really.

At the moment, he doesn’t have any managerial experience but that isn’t to say that he isn’t going to work at things and put himself in a good position when Ange does eventually depart.

Sandro is a popular figure as well at Spurs and if he was doing the business as a manager, you can imagine he’d be well received.

Time will tell, but it’s another name in the hat.
