Fan theorists are hard at work these days. With 20 seasons of Keeping Up With the Kardashians to analyze and a fifth season of The Kardashians on its way, there’s no end of footage to comb over in hopes of working out the dynamics between all the family members, whether the sisters have a K in their surname or Jenner.
While some The Kardashians fans of the family are convinced Khloé Kardashian’s nose has collapsed following her surgery, more are eager to dissect the interactions between the Kardashian sisters, Kourtney, Kim, and Khloé, and their younger half-sisters, Kylie and Kendall Jenner. Some believe the female family members really aren’t that close.
‘Interactions are robotic’
Fans aren’t afraid to tear The Kardashians scenes apart moment by moment in a bid to work out whether the show’s cast members are tight-knit or just faking it.
Taking to a Reddit thread, one person commented: “So so so crazy the difference in how the family interacts with each other in the beginning vs now.”
Agreeing, another fan commented: “They almost seem like robots now instead of humans.”
More chimed in on the thread, adding: “You can tell in certain scenes that they’d rather be anywhere else than there with eachother lol. Kourtney took off now I think for good- created a lot of distance and cut down contact majorly, Kendall has always kept everyone at an arm’s length…”
Another concluded: “I think they’re not showing the real interactions anymore. They just show us what they want to portray, it’s acting, none of it is real.”
‘Aunt-niece dynamic’
Budding body language expert analysis aside, some fans of the Hulu show are simply convinced the Jenner and Kardashian sisters just can’t be that close because of the girls’ age gap.
The eldest of the sisters is Kourtney, 44, followed by Kim, 43, Khloe, 39, Kendall, 28, and Kylie, 26.
Some describe the dynamic between the siblings as being more like an “aunt and niece” rather than sisters.
One commented: “Kourtney and Kendall are 16 years apart. They maybe close, but it’s probably a different kind of close because of that big age gap.”
Another added: “…when someone’s that much older, they’re almost like a third parent…”
However, other fans recalled different phases where the older siblings have appeared closer to Kendall and Kylie in the past.
One wrote: “…there was a time where Kim was obsessed with Kylie. I think it was during Kylies Tumblr phase, there’s an episode of Kim saying how cool and trendy she thought Kylie was.”
Kardashian vs Jenner ‘competition’
Throwing another element into the mix, some fans are thinking its sheer “competition” between the sisters that keeps them from being super close.
One suggested: “I think Kylie and Kendall may be the closest with Khloe. Kim probably sees Kylie and Kendall as competition and for the last few years…”
Another added the ladies’ mom, Kris Jenner, into the equation: “I think Kris has caused so much competition between them all, that will always be a wedge.”
More said how Kylie and Kendall didn’t receive the same upbringing as Kim, Kourt, and Koko, writing: “They were also raised completely different than the Kardashian kids.”
Touching on the different personalities within the family, another said: “The jenners are also way more introverted and to themselves…”
