Mason Mount can now finally fulfil his promise to Manchester United fans

Mason Mount has endured a tough time at Manchester United so far.

The £60m signing from Chelsea has not endured the debut season at Old Trafford he would have dreamed of.

Amid a sea of injuries, Mason Mount has featured just eight times for Manchester United. This has been made up of just four starts and as little as 401 minutes. A seriously poor return.

However, things are looking up. After coming on as a substitute in the brilliant 4-3 win against Liverpool, it appears Mount will be featuring in United’s first-team squad a lot more. This means he can finally fulfil the promise he made upon arriving at the club.

Mason Mount can finally fulfil Manchester United promise

Erik ten Hag secured the services of Mount in July 2023, to which the England international was then revealed to be Manchester United’s new number seven.

He joined the likes of star-studded names around Old Trafford to don the iconic jersey, including Eric Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, George Best and Bryan Robson.

He took to Instagram after the news broke, to deliver the following message to Manchester United fans.

‘I know the history and understand the responsibility that comes with this shirt. The most important thing for me is to gain your trust and I will work hard to do that. I won’t let you down Reds!’

Now is the time for Mason Mount to fulfil his Manchester United promise

Now the hard work begins for Mount, as he has certainly not gained the trust of the Old Trafford faithful as of yet.

The former Champions League winner does possess undeniable talent but does need a run of games to really find his form again.

On paper, a midfield three of Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes and Mount does sound really exciting – and it’s a midfield that United fans have not seen yet this season.

Could this be the key to Mount fulfilling his promise? Who knows. However, the time is now to act from the Englishman. He needs to do the number seven jersey proud.
