‘Technical precision’: National media left in awe of ‘dangerous’ 28-year-old recently linked with Arsenal move

It wouldn’t be a surprise if both Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar were using this international break to prepare Arsenal’s summer transfer plans.

As soon as the majority of the squad return from these games, Arteta will have heads firmly locked on next Sunday’s tie with Manchester City.

Arsenal struggled at the Etihad last season, but will believe it can be a different story with the likes of Declan Rice and Kai Havertz in their side.

As you may expect, both impressed for their countries last night, continuing the rich level of performance they’ve been consistently delivering in north London.

And whilst Arteta will predominantly have his eyes focused on his current players during these internationals, praying they all avoid injury, he will perhaps also be checking in one or two targets.

With that in mind, Havertz may not have been the only player Arteta was following in Germany’s remarkable 2-0 win away to France last night.

Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot played the whole 90 minutes for France, and earned a lot of plaudits despite how convincingly his side were beaten.

Adrien Rabiot could be a smart summer move for Arsenal on a free transfer

Of course, Rabiot was recently linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer when he will be available on a free transfer as things stand.

At 28-years-old, Rabiot could be a really smart addition, a player with so much experience and quality.

And although France were mostly overrun last night, French outlet Maxifoot still enjoyed what they saw from Rabiot.

They noted: “A rather decent match for the midfielder of the France team, active even in his team’s weak moments, the Juventus Turin player had a lot of play to put pressure on the Germans.

“Above all, he did not hesitate to project himself and maintained his technical precision by playing forward. In the area, the former Parisian was even dangerous, but [Robert] Andrich got in his way.”

Rabiot really is a high calibre of player, and could look well suited in Arsenal’s midfield alongside Rice.

Although they may face stiff competition, Arsenal could certainly do worse than signing Rabiot on a free transfer this summer should the opportunity arise.

That being said, it seems Arsenal do now have their eyes set on signing a Premier League caption once the season ends.
