'I wouldn't be surprised': Dharmesh Sheth drops Steidten claim ahead of the summer in fresh twist

Dharmesh Sheth has dropped a new claim about West Ham United director of football Tim Steidten ahead of the summer in a fresh twist.

West Ham director of football Tim Steidten has made a big impact at the London Stadium since joining us in the summer of 2023, and now Dharmesh Sheth has provided a new claim about the German.

David Moyes was assisted by Steidten in the summer transfer window, when he brought four top-class new players to the club.

It was recently claimed that the 44-year-old is targeting managers to replace Moyes, and has zoned in on the Bundesliga and South America as his favoured hunting grounds.

Whether Moyes stays or goes at the end of the season remains to be seen. However, if we don’t win the Europa League and/or fail to qualify for European competition again, the general consensus is that the Scot and the Hammers will go their separate ways.

And now a new claim has been made about Tim Steidten’s summer plans as well…

Dharmesh Sheth drops Tim Steidten claim

The German has helped transform how we do things as a club as far as transfers are concerned, since moving to the London Stadium nine months ago.

The former Bayer Leverkusen DOF has an uncanny knack of being able to identify the perfect players for us. Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez are evidence of this.

And the Sky Sports reporter told Give Me Sport what Steidten could do this summer:

“If David Moyes is to go, I wouldn’t be surprised if Tim Steidten scoured the European market and maybe brought in a manager that is very well versed in how a European football team is run with a sporting director and a structure, as opposed to the almost old school manager that David Moyes is, who wants a little bit more control on all recruitment matters at the football club, which in fairness, he has had in his second stint at West Ham United. But because West Ham have decided to move towards this more European structure, I think it will be quite a big decision they will have to make, and Tim Steidten will probably be at the centre of that.”

So Steidten is now set to scour Europe for Moyes’s successor it seems.

With the new European model in place at West Ham, and less power being given to Moyes when it comes to recruitment, it would be no surprise at all to see the Scot move on from the London Stadium at the end of the season.

That would be quite the turnaround from the way Moyes has worked in the past, and there’s no way he’d be willing to change this late on in his career.

Dharmesh Sheth reckons that Tim Steidten will be given the keys to the castle, and if the club do go down that route, I think it will 100% be the correct decision.
