Rangers international in Old Firm injury sweat - one of four Ibrox doubts

Heading into Sunday’s Old Firm derby, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s Celtic and not Rangers who’ve been decimated by injury this season.

The Parkhead side have let slip a seven point lead in the Premiership with doubts still surrounding club captain Callum McGregor’s availability for the clash at Ibrox this weekend.

But whilst Celtic have had consistent injury problems this season, they pale in comparison to the endemic issues at Ibrox which have interrupted the last two-and-a-bit campaigns.

After months of problems, Philippe Clement finally appears to be getting it right in this department with several players coming back into the team.

But there remains four major doubts for the weekend’s Old Firm clash with Rangers, with two names especially almost certain to miss out.

Ridvan Yilmaz tops Rangers injury issues v Celtic

The biggest Rangers injury story ahead of the clash with Celtic surrounds Turkish international Ridvan Yilmaz.

The talented left-back remains a doubt for the match and – after missing the weekend’s clash with Hibs – faces a late fitness test heading into the derby clash.

Another big doubt is Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack, who appears to be running out of time to convince Philippe Clement over a new deal.

It’s unclear when the Scotland star will return to the fold but he is not expected to be out for as long as South American pair Oscar Cortes and Danilo.

Both stars are in different phases of their recovery from surgery and by the sounds of things, we’ll be lucky to see either of them again this season.

Philippe Clement turns Rangers injury situation

Whilst Rangers’ injury list is down to four, don’t let that fool you heading into the clash with Celtic.

Rangers have had a number of high-profile injury issues over the course of this season, with Philippe Clement and the medical team deserving credit for turning things around.

John Souttar is now a mainstay in the team, whilst Dujon Sterling, Kieran Dowell, Kemar Roofe, Rabbi Matondo and Abdallah Sima are now back in the first-team.

Players like Borna Barisic, Leon Balogun, and Ben Davies also haven’t had their issues to seek, whilst Ross McCausland is another who has been nursing an issue.

Many of these players are returning to the Rangers team at the right time of the season and ahead of the clash with Celtic.

It presents Philippe Clement with an almighty dilemma heading into the Rangers Celtic clash with competition certainly fierce.
