People on TikTok are sharing messages in code with a new ‘Flower Language’ and it’s totally adorable.
It’s one of many secret code languages that exist on the video app, another one revolves around numbers.
TikTok’s ‘Flower Language’
In the cute flower language, each letter of the alphabet is allocated a small, colorful illustration of a flower.
For example, ‘A’ is a branched purple flower, while ‘N’ is a sweet yellow sunflower-style drawing and ‘K’ is a blue tulip head.
You are supposed to combine the different flowers into your own bunch, to spell out a secret word or message.
You could do the initials of you and your partner, spell out an entire person’s name or choose a word like ‘love’.
How to do the trend
To take part in the trend, all you need is a drawing app and some artistic skills. It will be easier with an Apple Pencil or stylus.
On an iPhone or iPad, you can use Procreate, or just the Notes app. Sketchbook is also a great option, which is available on Android too.
Once you’ve got your blank canvas, all you have to do is choose a word and select the letters from the flower chart.
Then, it’s time to combine each flower into a bunch. Start by drawing the correct number of stems before adding the flowers on top.
Tattoo artist inks designs
The flower language was never actually supposed to be a trend. It was made by a tattoo artist in Thailand who made it for people to customize their own inks.
He shared the illustrations on Instagram and TikTok in March and wrote: “Come get a bouquet of flowers. Your own name.”
People have been getting their own colorful inks combining the floral illustrations to secretly say a word or name.
