West Ham transfer decision made for us after embarrassing 9th minute incident vs Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah has given West Ham United director of football Tim Steidten a very easy decision to make.

West Ham have been heavily linked with a move to sign Jonathan Tah. In fact, the 28-year-old is said to be the priority target for Steidten to replace Nayef Aguerd this summer.

Tim Steidten has made seismic changes at the London Stadium, since he was appointed as the new director of football back in July 2023.

He has impressed so much that recent reports actually linked him with a move to Liverpool (Claret and Hugh).

David Moyes has had to take a backwards step after Steidten’s excellent summer recruitment, with the German responsible for the signings of Edson Alvarez, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Mohammed Kudus.

West Ham are believed to be about to head down more of a continental route when it comes to player recruitment.

So Steidten will have the keys to the castle this summer it seems. And now he has a very easy decision to make…

West Ham must make quick Jonathan Tah transfer decision

The German was part of the Leverkusen defence that enjoyed a fairly comfortable night against the Hammers.

In fact, they won’t enjoy many easier games than the one they played against Moyes’s side in the Europa League.

However, everything didn’t go perfectly for Tah.

Just nine minutes into the contest, he was absolutely rinsed by Michail Antonio.

Joe Cole highlighted on the night how Antonio ’embarrassed’ the Germany international when he breezed past him inside the first 10 minutes of the game at the BayArena.

The Jamaica international showcased explosive pace and he made Tah look like a bit of a old carthorse if I’m honest.

The thing is, the Premier League is the fastest paced, most intense league in world football. If Jonathan Tah struggled to contain West Ham forward Michail Antonio, I’m not sure he is the right man for us.

I think the 28-year-old’s display last night was all the evidence Tim Steidten needed to avoid a move for his countryman this summer.
