Rangers v Ross County - Team news confirmed, Sima starts, return at left-back

Rangers take the long drive up the A9 to face Ross County today as Philippe Clement looks to put their foot down in the title race.

The Gers boss has more quality in his squad now but will be frustrated to lose Mohamed Diomande due to a thumb injury of all things.

Winning is all that matters at this stage of the season and Rangers will be hoping that the second half performance of the Old Firm is repeated rather than the first – this is who the manager has gone with to get the job done.

Rangers v Ross Count – Team news confirmed

Dujon Sterling covered at left back last weekend but he was missed higher up the park, we could do with someone like him in midfield and on the right wing.

Borna Barisic only just missed out in the derby due to illness earlier in the week and with Ridvan Yilmaz still not 100% being a natural left footer gives Rangers some much needed balance.

With no Ryan Jack or Diomande, John Lundstram has a different partner in the engine room.

Kieran Dowell looked good when he came off the bench last week and he deserves the chance to start.

The same question will be asked of both Abdallah Sima and Rabbi Matondo despite their game changing efforts against Celtic, it looks like Sima will start and Matondo will replace him.

Fabio Silva didn’t impress Philippe Clement with his theatrics and Cyriel Dessers was unlucky not to score in his last outing.

Both of them will be needed to contribute in the coming weeks.

Rangers starting XI

This is your starting XI for Rangers v Dundee:

With Celtic beating St Mirren yesterday, Rangers really need to starting getting points of the board and winning games again.

Next week sees the return of the Scottish Cup so, if we can make it two from two, we will be top of the league when the post split fixtures start on the other side:

Mentality, intent and the sort of persistence that we saw in the second half at Ibrox will be a good start.
