‘Not good enough’: Jamie Carragher really disappointed with 24-year-old Liverpool player vs Crystal Palace

Jamie Carragher has criticised one Liverpool forward for not taking a very good chance against Crystal Palace at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

Liverpool are aiming to beat Arsenal and Manchester City to the Premier League title this season.

Manchester City won on Saturday, and Arsenal are expected to beat Aston Villa on Sunday.

Liverpool took on Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Jurgen Klopp’s side lost 1-0.

The defeat to Palace came after a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Atalanta at Anfield in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie on Thursday evening.

Jamie Carragher was on co-commentary duty on Sky Sports for the Premier League match between Liverpool and Palace.

The former Liverpool defender was not impressed with Darwin Nunez. The Sky Sports pundit criticised the 24-year-old Uruguay international striker for failing to score in the opening minutes of the second half.

In the 55th minute, from a corner, the ball fell to Nunez just yards out from the Palace goal. The striker swivelled and shot on goal. It hit Dean Henderson.

Criticism of Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez vs Crystal Palace

Carragher said on Sky Sports Premier League (3:15 pm, April 14, 2024): “He has got to score that. It’s not good enough. Darwin Nunez has got to score. How often do we say that?”

Title blow for Liverpool

Liverpool will be hugely disappointed with the defeat to Crystal Palace. They failed to take their chances and gave a poor performance overall.

While I do not think that Liverpool are out of the Premier League title race, they certainly have to step up their game and hope that Arsenal and Manchester City drop points in the final rounds of matches.

The Reds are going through a bad spell. Liverpool were not at their best against Manchester United either. They need to improve.
