Thursday night’s game against Lille was memorable for many aspects. Despite seemingly down and out, Emery’s side managed to pull themselves back into the tie and see it out to penalties.
However, throughout the tie, nothing seemed to go Villa’s way. This was confounded by the referee whose bizarre display saw multiple first-team players booked for the visitors.

Prediction made for Aston Villa vs Bournemouth
Away from the madness of the Europa Conference League, Villa face Bournemouth this Sunday. This is a must-win game after a fifth Champions League spot is all but impossible after recent European results.
However, Bournemouth come into the game in very good form and has been climbing up the table in recent weeks.

Aston Villa breaks unwanted record vs Lille
Despite the success of Thursday night, there were plenty of concerns from the game.
Lille were on top throughout the match and it wasn’t until the emergence of Leon Bailey from the bench that the visitors managed to get going.
As a result, Villa’s attack was extremely blunt and they failed to have a single shot on goal before half-time, the first time they have done this in over two years.
