'He looks really good in training': Arteta hails 'incredible' 22-year-old Arsenal talent yet to start this year

Arsenal are in a good position in terms of player availability going into Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Wolves.

The Gunners will desperate for a response at Molineux after losing their last two in all competitions as they bid to keep their title hopes alive.

Arsenal fell to a 2-0 loss against Aston Villa to dent their title hopes last week, before going out of the Champions League to Bayern Munich in midweek.

Mikel Arteta, speaking to the press on Friday, said only Jurrien Timber is expected to miss the game, as it comes too soon for him in his injury comeback.

However, the Arsenal boss insists that the 22-year-old is getting ever closer to a full return, looks great in training, and will be playing for the Under-21s this week.

When asked by the Gunners media team whether this game is too soon for Timber, Arteta replied: “It is too soon.

“He’s going to play a game with the Under-21s and after that we will see better where he is, how he felt.

“He looks really good in training but it’s that last step now. We need to have the certainty that he’s ready to go.”

When is Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber expected to play for Under-21s?

Timber has endured a difficult season since making his move from Ajax last summer for a reported fee of £38million including add-ons.

The “incredible” 22-year-old sadly suffered an ACL injury in Arsenal’s first Premier League game of the season against Nottingham Forest.

However, Timber’s road to recovery is now near the finish line, and fans will no doubt be watching the Under-21s game intently to see how he fares.

Arsenal’s U21s are in Premier League 2 action on Monday when they play away at Blackburn Rovers.
