Serie A club now interested in signing Tottenham player who Ange Postecoglou says is ‘important’

Tottenham Hotspur are set for yet another busy summer transfer window and will have to make a few key decisions.

Ange Postecoglou’s side remain in with a shot of securing a top-four finish but face a difficult run of fixtures.

Tottenham have a north London derby next Sunday which will be followed by trips to Stamford Bridge and Anfield.

Postecoglou has insisted that he isn’t bothered about the Champions League and is much more interested in his side’s progress on the pitch.

The Aussie boss has revamped his first-team squad since making the switch to Spurs last summer. Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Micky van de Ven have proven to be brilliant additions.

Timo Werner has also impressed since joining from RB Leipzig on loan in January and Spurs have a decision to make over his future this summer.

Roma want to sign Werner

According to Italian outlet Palmero Calcio, Werner has emerged as an option for Roma this summer.

I Giallorossi are looking at potential replacements for Romelu Lukaku and hold an interest in signing Werner on loan.

It’s noted that Werner would be a good fit for Roma boss Daniele De Rossi as a player who can operate across the frontline.

Tottenham have an option to make Werner’s move to north London permanent for a fee worth around £15 million this summer.

The German international has nailed down his place in Postecoglou’s side of late and has registered five goal involvements in 12 Premier League appearances.

What Postecoglou has said about Werner

Despite Tottenham supporters being divided over whether the club should sign Werner this summer, Postecoglou has been pleased with the 28-year-old’s displays.

Ahead of our 4-0 win at Aston Villa last month, he said: “I think he’s been really important. If we hadn’t brought him in there would have been far more of a burden on the other players, especially with Sonny away.

“We threw him straight in. He’s made an impact but I think he can get even better.”

Werner has certainly proven he can be a useful option for Postecoglou and at £15 million, a move for the forward feels like a no-brainer.

With that being said, it feels vital that Spurs also add extra quality to their forward line as well as Werner.
