Enzo Maresca can keep 'incredible' Southampton ace quiet by making one tweak at Leicester City - opinion

Leicester City resume Championship action on Tuesday evening as they play host to Southampton.

Enzo Maresca‘s side will be back at the King Power Stadium just days after their crucial 2-1 win against West Bromwich Albion.

Leicester are back at the summit of the table and need two more victories to mathematically secure automatic promotion.

Though, it could be sealed against The Saints if Leeds United suffer a defeat to Middlesbrough on Monday night.

Ahead of the clash, Maresca must consider making a slight tactical tweak to deal with one ‘incredible’ Southampton ace.

Enzo Maresca must keep Adam Armstrong quiet

Adam Armstrong will certainly be a danger man for the visitors, having netted a phenomenal 20 league goals this season whilst laying on an equally impressive 13 assists.

Armstrong had registered six goal contributions in his last nine outings and will be hoping to add to that tally against The Foxes.

In his last four games, the ex-Newcastle United forward has operated as a left-winger and is expected to assume that some role here.

So to keep him quiet, Maresca should stick with Hamza Choudhury at right-back and move Wout Faes – who started on the left against West Brom – back to the right-hand side.

That way, Leicester will have enough pace and agility to match Armstrong.

Leicester City can’t make the same mistakes v Southampton

Against West Brom, Leicester afforded far too much space to Mikey Johnston, who on another day could’ve scored twice.

They can’t afford to be that exposed against Southampton, as the likes of Armstrong, Che Adams and David Brooks will have the quality to punish them.

The crowd were absolutely excellent on Saturday and are expected to produce a similar noise on Tuesday, which is a huge advantage Maresca and his players must feed into.

With Southampton still in the top two race, even if their chances are slim, Leicester simply can’t afford to lose.

They must up their performance and look to gain control from the off, with an early goal needed to settle the nerves.

The team selection will be interesting, as surely the City boss will have to rotate having played just over 72 hours prior.

A telling few days awaits The Foxes.
