A new permanent manager seems to be on the horizon at the Stadium of Light this summer. The Black Cats have been without a long-term man in the dugout since the sacking of Michael Beale in February.

Multiple names have been linked to the role including Will Still and Steve Cooper. However, one man who has potentially thrown his hat into the ring is former defender O’Shea.

The Irishman expressed his desire to one day become the boss at the club but took issue with one policy. O’Shea insisted that the reliance on young players exclusively could damage their chances of promotion with a mixture of experience needed.

Despite having 68% possession, the hosts barely worked the ‘keeper and could not muster a goal once again at their home stadium.

The consistent backwards passing was labelled ‘maddening’ by journalist Michael Graham with the style of play enraging fans.
