'It's comical...': Wolves loanee Fabio Silva went viral after terrible miss for Rangers

Wolves loanee Fabio Silva has gone viral for his ‘comical’ miss for Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

While Wolves have enjoyed plenty of success throughout the season, many of the players on their books have not.

Fabio Silva is one man who has not enjoyed his greatest season throughout the current campaign.

Originally, the former record signing was meant to play a big role for Wolves this season. After enjoying a successful loan spell at both Anderlecht and PSV, he returned to the Molineux side and was immediately part of the first-team plans.

Despite Julen Lopetegui’s departure, Gary O’Neil relayed this trust and offered him the number nine shirt, previously worn by Raul Jimenez.

However, after a series of poor performances where he did not score a single Premier League goal, he was shipped out on loan to Rangers in January.

Here, he has enjoyed more success and has scored four goals since moving north of the border. This saw him linked with a permanent move to the club.

However, a poor display on Sunday saw him going viral for a shocking miss against Hearts in the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

Fabio Silva’s miss is ‘comical’

Rangers found themselves 2-0 up in the Scottish Cup semi-final and set to play Celtic in the final.

Right at the end of the match, the Scottish giants looked to round off their victory with a third. Cyriel Dessers, who was on a hat-trick, unselfishly squared the ball to Fabio Silva.

The striker had the entire net to aim for but instead of getting a shot away, he appeared to just fall to the ground six yards out.

Looking at the incident, the commentator said: “What on earth is he doing? That is comical stuff from Fabio Silva, it was laid on a plate for him.”

Luckily, the miss did not matter with Rangers progressing to the final regardless. However, this did not prevent the clip from going viral on social media.

It is clear Wolves are never going to get their money back for Fabio Silva. The striker is just not good enough for this level.

Realistically, Wolves should have cashed in on the attacker last summer when his value was at his highest.

Since he has gone to Scotland, he has barely set the world alight and that miss will likely be long remembered by fans.

How Fabio Silva managed to not only miss, but not get a shot away there is utterly baffling. If he is missing chances like that, it is no surprise he did not score a Premier League goal for Wolves this season.

Any offer that comes in for the striker, the club should accept, cut their losses and allow both parties to move on.
