'Not what I'm hearing': Fabrizio Romano shares what he's been told about £50m Liverpool player leaving Anfield

Liverpool could be in for a busy summer in 2024 with Jurgen Klopp on his way out and there’s talk of certain players potentially following the German.

The Reds put themselves back into the mix to win the Premier League title yesterday by beating Fulham 3-1.

As of yet, there is no news on who might end up being the replacement for Klopp.

As we know, Ruben Amorim is currently the favourite for the job and the Sporting Lisbon manager is very much in the race.

Regardless of who the new coach at Liverpool is, it could coincide with players coming and going as that new manager looks to implement his own ways on the club.

One man who has been linked with a move away from Anfield is influential winger, Luis Diaz.

Reports have suggested that Barcelona are keen on Diaz, with the Reds apparently looking at £75m if he is to be sold. Liverpool paid £50m for Diaz initially, so would naturally want a return.

However, speaking about Diaz’s future, Fabrizio Romano has offered up a slightly different take.

Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s heard about Luis Diaz and Liverpool

Speaking in his latest column for CaughtOffside, Romano got onto the subject of Diaz and his Liverpool future.

And addressing the links to Barcelona, Romano had some good news for those Liverpool fans who might be worried about the Colombian’s future.

“Staying with Barcelona for a moment, we’ve also had fresh rumours about Luis Diaz reportedly wanting to join from Liverpool.

“This is not what I’m hearing, though – Diaz is crucial player for Liverpool and also, for Barca to pay for a player like Diaz with their Financial Fair Play situation…I think that could be quite difficult,” Romano said.

Diaz has been a key player for Liverpool this season.

The winger has hit double figures in terms of goals and remains one of the players Jurgen Klopp relies on.

Keeping him in the summer would feel like a big win for Liverpool and their new manager.

Of course, losing someone like Diaz means a gaping hole to fill and for FSG, that’s not something they’ll be looking to do if they can avoid it.
