'Serious questions': David Ornstein says £45m Arsenal man could now be playing his last few games for the club

Arsenal could be in for a busy old summer of transfer activity and one of the top buys of the Mikel Arteta could be on his way out.

The Gunners are out of Europe and their defeat against Aston Villa in the Premier League last weekend means Man City now have one hand on the title again.

For Mikel Arteta, it means at least one more transfer window of trying to get things spot on.

A number of new signings are expected, as Arsenal target a midfielder and a striker at the very least.

And that could be bad news for one of their top attacking players.

£45m Arsenal man could be about to play his final games for the club

Speaking about Arsenal’s transfer situation on the latest episode of The Athletic FC podcast, the respected journalist David Ornstein spoke about potential outgoings.

And according to Ornstein, the sun might be setting on Gabriel Jesus’ time at the club.

“Gabriel Jesus, has time moved past him at Arsenal? Because he’s been suffering from this recurring knee injury, or multiple injuries. His goal output is not what he would expect or Arsenal would expect. And we know he’s capable of those amazing moments like Manchester United at home this season,” Ornstein said.

“But they’ve become so infrequent that if Arsenal are going to be bringing in a top level striker, you do imagine that they would have to at least consider any outside interest in Gabriel Jesus. Even if it doesn’t materialise, even if you know, he gets fit and shows his versatility, because he can also play wide… these are serious questions that need to be answered.”

Gabriel Jesus might have to leave Arsenal

Some people actually predicted this with Gabriel Jesus when he signed for £45m from Man City.

Yes, the Brazilian is a very good player on his day but like at City, the goals just don’t seem to be there with him on a regular basis.

He misses too many big chances to be the main man for a club like Arsenal and it’s easy to see why Mikel Arteta might want a new number nine.

There has been reports Jesus might be loaned out next season and the likes of Juventus are keen.

Jesus, then, might find himself one of the big sacrifices of the summer when it comes to another mini overhaul of the squad.
