'A little bigger': Bambo Diaby shares hilarious injury update after Sheffield Wednesday win v Blackburn

Bambo Diaby has taken to Instagram after he was forced off with an injury during Sheffield Wednesday’s win over Blackburn Rovers.

Sheffield Wednesday picked up a huge three points at Ewood Park yesterday, with Aynsley Pear’s freak own goal proving to be the icing on the cake after goals from Josh Windass and Marvin Johnson gifted them the lead.

The victory drags the Owls out of the relegation zone for the first time under Danny Rohl, leaving their survival entirely in their hands going into the penultimate game of the season.

While Blackburn did help them out a little, their luck with injuries at the weekend really tried to make things difficult for the visitors.

Michael Ihiekwe started his eighth consecutive game in the Championship but was taken off with a leg problem after only 15 minutes.

The centre-back was then replaced by Bambo Diaby, who put on a solid display in Lancashire. The 26-year-old made three clearances, won 80% of his headers and completed 19 passes.

However, Diaby was also forced off just shy of the hour mark following a collision that left both is face and shirt covered in blood.

Wednesday went onto take the lead only minutes after the defender was replaced and he was forced to celebrate from the treatment table.

Following the victory, Diaby took to his Instagram story to share a hilarious update. Alongside a photo of him with his thumbs up, he wrote: “The nose a little bigger, but the same optimism as always!!!!”

He then shared another Instagram post with the caption: “I’m fine and we won a crucial game, so it’s a pretty good day. Thanks for the messages.”

Sheffield Wednesday will never stop fighting

Despite a number of obstacles trying to prevent victory for Sheffield Wednesday, they kept on battling right till the end and still managed to claim all three points.

Despite their chances of staying up looking bleak before the weekend, the Owls didn’t let their injuries or Sammie Szmodics’ early equaliser bring them down. Danny Rohl has taught them to keep going and to keep their spirits high no matter what.

With that mentality, there is no excuse for them not to keep going and try and pick up maximum points against West Brom and Sunderland now. It’s all in their hands.
