Unai Emery and Monchi make ‘offer’ for 23-year-old Aston Villa summer target

Aston Villa are reportedly turning their attention to the summer transfer window, with one target for Unai Emery and Monchi to chase now reported.

Aston Villa will hope to end their remarkable campaign with a European trophy and a fourth-place Premier League finish, as Unai Emery continues to raise the bar at Villa Park.

The Villans are well-poised to complete both targets after booking their spot in the Europa Conference League semi-final last week, as well as claiming three points to extend their lead in the race for the top four.

While the manager will have few complaints with his side throughout the season, particularly when considering how well his players have adapted to key absences, Emery will want to look for added quality in the transfer window.

Last summer, the Spaniard and Monchi were instrumental in bringing new faces to Birmingham to bolster the squad and will look to repeat such success this year.

With just four games left to play for their 2023/24 campaign, Villa have already been linked with one name, with Turkish news outlets reporting that the Premier League side has enquired about one Galatasaray sensation.

Aston Villa ‘made an offer’ to Galatasaray about 23-year-old Baris Alper Yilmaz

As reported by Turkish outlet Hurriyet, Villa are one of the clubs interested in Galatasaray winger, Baris Alper Yilmaz.

The 23-year-old, who is said to have gathered interest from both Napoli and Villa, has shown great form in Turkey this campaign, with him now suspected to be of interest to Emery.

The Hurriyet report claims that Villa ‘made an offer of €18m’ (£15.5m) for the forward, who is valued at €25m by the Turkish champions.

It’s added that ‘negotiations between the two clubs continue’, with it claimed that Galatasaray will hope that his performance at the European Championships could rocket their asking price.

Who is Baris Alper Yilmaz?

Deployable on both the left and right-wing, Yilmaz was once likened to Premier League sensation Son Heung-Min for his approach to play by talent scout, Jacek Kulig.

The 23-year-old had a tough start to the 2023/24 campaign however, has shown his worth in the second half of the calendar, where he has contributed to 15 goals in all competitions – scoring six and assisting nine.

It’s clear why Emery might want the dynamic winger on his side, given the importance that the boss places on his wide players, with Villa being an exciting attacking team to watch, with a lot of their play stemming from the wide channels.

As per Sofascore, Yilmaz averages 1.8 successful dribbles per game in the Turkish Super Lig this season, more than Leon Bailey who averages 1.5 per game in the Premier League for Villa.

It would be a smart move for the Villans to recruit added depth in quality to their squad, particularly with European involvement in the 2024/25 campaign guaranteed.
