61-year-old may be FSG’s wildcard option to succeed Jurgen Klopp, he’s won everything

FSG may have a wildcard option to replace Jurgen Klopp and it could be a 61-year-old manager who has won everything in the game.

Despite Jurgen Klopp announcing his decision to leave Liverpool over a few months ago now, it’s still not clear who will succeed him this summer.

There is one clear favourite in Ruben Amorim. However, nothing is certain yet. Just like with Xabi Alonso, Liverpool may hit a dead end, and Amorim may decide he wants to remain at Sporting CP.

The club will undoubtedly interview other potential candidates for the job, and all options will be explored.

FSG will want to find the best possible candidate, even if he may not be the supporters’ choice. That could lead the club to an unexpected appointment.

Why Jose Mourinho could be FSG’s wildcard option

Last weekend, Jose Mourinho was spotted watching Liverpool in the crowd at Craven Cottage. The 61-year-old is currently unemployed after leaving AS Roma earlier this season.

In recent years it’s true Mourinho hasn’t had great success, but he’s still delivered trophies and cup final appearances.

Even last season he led Roma to the Europa League final in Budapest, getting the better of Xabi Alonso along the way.

It’s also important to note that in his last few roles, he pretty much took on impossible tasks and was never really backed financially. Nor did he have a recruitment team of Liverpool’s capability.

Why Jose Mourinho might make sense for Liverpool

The truth is there aren’t any candidates for Liverpool like Mourinho, who have won the Champions League multiple times and have also lifted the Premier League as well.

Mourinho has pretty much won everything in his career and he’s been very successful everywhere he has gone.

He is someone who resonates with the club’s supporters and knows how to deal with big expectations. Perhaps he is also one of the few people in the world who would be relishing the opportunity to take over from Klopp and continue his legacy.

That is why he should not be written off as a potential option for Liverpool.
