Gut-wrenching new Liverpool twist for West Ham as Amorim jets in

There has been a gut-wrenching new Liverpool twist for West Ham from a top source as Ruben Amorim heads to London.

Earlier this month we reported that West Ham’s dream looked in tatters after Liverpool ‘opened talks’ with Sporting boss Ruben Amorim.

There was a huge twist this afternoon, though, when David Ornstein claimed West Ham were holding talks with the 39-year-old.

Ornstein stated that the Hammers were serious about an ambitious move for the coveted young manager with David Moyes now expected to leave.

West Ham frenzy after sudden talks with Liverpool target

Not only that but the journalist claimed the West Ham job carried appeal for Amorim because Liverpool were now unlikely to make him their replacement for the departing Jurgen Klopp.

The news has sent West Ham fans craving a young, modern, attack-minded manager into something of a frenzy.

It has also raised eyebrows in Liverpool where his name had been among top contenders for several weeks.

There was further excitement in West Ham circles when the likes of CCN Portugal reported that Amorim had boarded a private jet to come to London for talks.

Because Portuguese football journalist Pedro Sepulveda confirmed Amorim was on board a flight to Stansted for talks with West Ham.

He even posted a picture of the Sporting boss, who has given his team two days off, boarding the jet with his agent Raul Costa.

There’s bad news for the Hammers, though.

Because Sepulveda claims Amorim is also set to meet Liverpool for talks while he is in London.

“Ruben Amorim and his agent, Raul Costa, on their way to United Kingdom,” Sepulveda said.

“Ruben Amorim is in a private flight right now on his way to London! Meeting with Liverpool and West Ham is scheduled.”

Is following Klopp a wise move?

West Ham will fear for their chances if the Reds get serious over Amorim.

But the Hammers’ owners will hope the Sporting boss might realise he could be on a hiding to nothing following in the footsteps of Klopp at Anfield.

Amorim recently spoke out amid speculation of a move to Liverpool. He insisted he has not been secretly interviewed by the Reds. And he stated his focus was on leading Sporting to the Portuguese title.

So this is quite the development.

Ahead of the Amorim claims, West Ham were linked with Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui, among others.

But now the Portuguese is on his way for talks, West Ham are daring to dream.

It all hinges on what Amorim sees as the most logical next step in his hugely promising career.
