Aston Villa fans will be delighted to hear that Unai Emery has committed his future to the club, with Gabby Agbonlahor commenting on the Spaniard’s decision to extend his stay at Villa Park.

It’s the news Aston Villa fans have been waiting for, Unai Emery has signed a new contract with the club.

The news was broken exclusively by The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, who informed the footballing world of the Spaniard’s decision to extend his stay at Villa Park until 2027.

After recent speculation linking him to jobs elsewhere and pundits sharing their opinions of the 52-year-old’s desire to manage other clubs, it’s a relief to see Emery commit his future to Villa, in what has been a remarkable journey so far.

One of the first to react to the news of the boss’ contract extension was club legend Gabby Agbonlahor, who took to Twitter to take a swipe at his talkSPORT colleague, Andy Goldstein.

Quoting Ornstein’s tweet that delivered the news of Emery’s contract, Agbonlahor said:

During his rant on talkSPORT, Goldstein said that the Villa boss would see an offer from clubs such as Manchester United and Manchester City as a ‘no-brainer’, to which many were insulted at his disregard for the project he’s building at Villa Park.

It’s lighthearted humour from Agbonlahor, who has certainly had the last laugh with his colleague, whose bold assumption has come back to haunt him after just a week.
