Pundit claims Sheffield Wednesday could do 'one of the most ridiculous' things the Championship has ever seen

Danny Rohl could now earn one of the ‘most ridiculous achievements’ the Championship has ever seen.

Danny Rohl has only been at Sheffield Wednesday for six months now, but has completely transformed the squad, the attitude and the mindset at the club.

The Owls were seven points adrift at the bottom of the Championship when he arrived in October, with many fans already resigned to an immediate return to the third tier.

Wednesday hadn’t enjoyed a particularly inspiring transfer window and had looked completely out of depth in their opening ten games under Xisco Munoz.

Rohl arrived with no experience in management, but came with a lot of confidence and ideas.

The Yorkshire outfit have now picked up 13 wins since and clawed their way out of the relegation zone at the weekend, for the first time since the opening day.

With only two matches left and sitting just one point above the relegation zone, Wednesday’s place in the Championship is now guaranteed to go down to the final day.

They could well have to beat both West Brom and Sunderland to stay up, but for the club to even have such a chance is all thanks to Rohl.

Danny Rohl could be about to do a ‘ridiculous’ thing

Speaking on Second Tier pod, pundit Ryan Dilks has now claimed that Rohl keeping Wednesday up could potentially be ‘one of the most ridiculous achievements we have ever seen at Championship level’.

“We will always give massive praise to Danny Rohl,” Dilks said.

“Even if they go down, he deserves so much praise for getting them to the position where they have come close to staying up… but for them to actually be outside of the bottom three now is honestly one of the most ridiculous achievements we have ever seen at Championship level.

“Whether he can actually pull it off and keep them up we shall wait and see. He’s a bit unfortunate that he’s done this in the same season as Kieran McKenna at Ipswich, because otherwise he would probably be running away with manager of the season, but still, an astonishing achievement.”

Sheffield Wednesday are in trouble if they lose Rohl

Many football fans will question the hype around Danny Rohl due to them spending so many months in the relegation zone.

However, if the season had started when the 34-year-old was appointed, they would actually be flying high in 15th place – eleven points above the bottom three.

Rohl was handed a huge challenge when he arrived and has completely turned things around at the club, enforcing excellent form that undeniably deserves to stay up.

It will be a hugely depressing end to the season if they can’t get it across the line, and one that could see the German leave Hillsborough for good.

Wednesday could be in big trouble if Rohl does leave, as he really does feel like a one in a million kind of manager. There is no denying that he could work wonders with the club, but if they are relegated and lose him, then it will almost be like waking up from a dream.
