I saw £35m Chelsea player prove he should be sold this summer with performance vs Arsenal – opinion

Chelsea were well and truly embarrassed last night with their performance in the London derby against Arsenal.

The Blues were beaten 5-0 at the Emirates, with them capitulating particularly in the second half.

However, it didn’t take long in the first half either for them to be under the cosh, and actually play themselves into trouble from a very early stage.

Chelsea battered by Arsenal

Mauricio Pochettino made a number of changes from the side who took on Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday, with them putting in a real strong defensive display in particular.

However, three of the back four from that game were rotated, with one of those being brought in being Benoit Badiashile.

The Frenchman has had a really rough season since recovering from an injury which plagued the end of his first campaign at the club.

Despite joining for £35m with a lot of hope surrounding his future in West London, he has endured some truly poor performances when fit this season, and unfortunately last night was no different.

He gave the ball away a number of times in dangerous areas, with the Gunners creating plenty of chances off the back of Chelsea’s own errors.

Chelsea should be selling Badiashile

There have been reports that multiple clubs across Europe have registered an interest in signing Badiashile at the end of the season, despite the fact he has not even completed two full seasons with the Blues.

While there originally will have been no appetite to sell him until they saw him back at full fitness, last night should perhaps have proven that there may not be a player there who can make it at the level Chelsea want to get to.

It has been reported that they are interested in signing a new central defender at the end of the season, and this may well come at the expense of Badiashile.
