Richard Keys baffled by PGMOL decision as Nottingham Forest received VAR audio

Richard Keys has been left absolutely baffled by something that the PGMOL have done involving Nottingham Forest.

The Reds have been firmly in the spotlight this week following their controversial statement at the weekend.

Forest lost 2-0 at Everton, with referee Stuart Attwell failing to award the Reds three penalties from his position on VAR.

The club questioned Attwell being appointed to the fixture on the basis that he’s a Luton fan and Alan Shearer criticised Forest for their words.

Yesterday, UEFA announced that Attwell would be one of the English representatives on VAR for Euro 2024 – much to the bemusement of the Forest fan base.

It was also the day when Forest were advised they would receive the audio from their game with Everton, which should help them understand the thought process of the officials.

Now, Keys has been left stunned by something that he’s heard about the PGMOL and Forest.

Richard Keys baffled by something he’s heard about Nottingham Forest

The pundit hasn’t always been on the side of Forest since winning promotion to the Premier League. However, he’s right here.

Keys has taken to X after hearing what the situation is with Forest and the club receiving the audio from Sunday’s game.

He said: “So Forest are allowed to hear the VAR audio – but we’re not? Why not? The sooner we have live access to what’s being said at the monitor the better. Behaviour like this adds to the conspiracy theories. Just be honest – and open.”

Keys is spot on here. Why can’t the supporters hear what is being said just as they do in other sports such as rugby and cricket?

It makes zero sense and this is yet another episode that will simply leave Forest fans infuriated.

Keys makes brilliant point about VAR

It’s getting to breaking point when it comes to the way VAR is used in the Premier League – and the clubs deserve better.

Forest aren’t the only team who have been done by a wrong decision but it does feel as though they get more than other teams.

The Reds need to make sure they adopt a siege mentality based on the club’s strong response to Sunday’s incidents.

Keys is spot on here and the fact that fans can’t hear what the officials say to each other on a regular basis is just bizarre.

The Premier League clearly cares very little about their members and their supporters and right now, Forest are correct to feel slightly aggrieved with the whole situation.
