Liverpool's manager search could have a big impact on £6m Newcastle United player - opinion

Newcastle United and the rest of the Premier League are preparing to wave goodbye to Jurgen Klopp.

The Liverpool manager is set to leave Anfield at the end of the season, having confirmed that he will be stepping down back in January.

Now the Reds have the unenviable task of replacing Klopp, a manager who has won it all during his time in England. And there is still a chance he could win a second Premier League title, with Liverpool still in the race heading into the final few weeks of the 2023/24 campaign.

Klopp is a manager who Toon fans have not seen eye to eye with over the years, and many will be glad to see the back of him.

Replacing him is going to be incredibly challenging for Liverpool, and the current frontrunner for the job could inadvertently have an impact on goings on at Newcastle United this summer.

Liverpool looking at Feyenoord manager

It previously looked like Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim was the leading candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp, but that is no longer the case.

Instead, it appears that Liverpool are looking towards the Eredivisie for inspiration.

According to the Telegraph, Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is now the favourite to become the new Liverpool boss this summer.

They report that the Reds are going to step up their interest in Slot over the next few days, with the 45-year-old interested in the prospect of taking over from Klopp.

Slot is an interesting choice, and he is a manager who has really proven himself at Feyenoord. He won the Eredivisie title last season, while he recently lifted the KNVB Cup too.

And there is no doubt one Newcastle United player who will vouch for the Dutchman’s talents as a coach.

That could impact Yankuba Minteh’s immediate Newcastle future

Newcastle United youngster Yankuba Minteh is currently on loan at Feyenoord. He joined the Rotterdam club on a temporary deal immediately after his £6million move to St James’ Park last summer.

The 19-year-old has been a revelation in the Netherlands, boasting 10 goals and five assists in all competitions.

It has hinted towards a very bright future in the game, which is very exciting for Newcastle United.

Fans are eager to see what Minteh can do on Tyneside, and he will get the chance to impress this summer. The teenager is expected to be involved in Newcastle’s pre-season plans, with Eddie Howe set to cast his eye over the Gambia international.

However, another loan move might make sense, and it has been reported that Minteh would like to spend a second season with Feyenoord.

On paper, that makes sense. However, the situation could change if Slot is no longer the manager.

If Feyenoord are forced to change their manager, there are no guarantees that the new man in charge will want to re-sign Minteh. Alternatively, the winger could be less interested in a return.

And there is also Newcastle United’s stance to consider. They know that the current environment at Feyenoord is good for Minteh, but that might not be the case if a new manager arrives with different ideas.

While Liverpool await to see who replaces Jurgen Klopp, Newcastle fans will keenly watch on from afar to see if their decision has an impact on one of the most exciting youngsters that the Magpies have right now.
