'Annoying': Ben Parker says Leeds have a young star that is surprisingly strong and a 'nightmare' to play against

Ben Parker says one Leeds United player must be a “nightmare” to play against and is surprisingly strong given his pocket-sized stature.

Leeds United strengthened their position in the hunt for automatic promotion on Monday night with a brilliant 4-3 win. Even after Leicester City’s 5-0 win over Southampton, the Whites are in a good position.

Enzo Maresca’s side were always going to finish first above Daniel Farke‘s outfit at this stage. Their huge win on Tuesday night means they sit four points clear, with two more Championship games left.

It looks like a straight shootout between the Yorkshire side and Ipswich for second place with The Tractor Boys a point behind but have a game in hand. Leeds and Crysencio Summerville can apply some pressure.

Summerville’s side are next in action on Friday at QPR away from Elland Road in the capital. It means that despite playing more recently than Ipswich, they also play before Ipswich next take to the field at Hull.

By the time Ipswich are in action, Leeds might be four points clear of Kieran McKenna’s side which could be good for the Yorkshire side psychologically. They will need Monday’s Summerville to show up.

He is the one player Leeds will turn to at this moment in time to provide the spark as Georginio Rutter struggles for his best form. Ben Parker has been talking about the Dutch talent.

Ben Parker says Crysencio Summerville is a ‘nightmare’ to play against

Speaking on LS11, former Leeds defender Parker said: “You think you’ve got him as a defender as well and he always manages to find that half a yard. You know what he’s going to do but you can’t stop it.

“I bet it’s so annoying and a nightmare to play against. He’s so small you think you’d be able to physically dominate him but you can’t because he is actually a strong lad. He can look after himself,” Parker added.

Summerville is the Championship’s Player of the Season for a reason after a wonderful 2023-24 campaign. The Dutchman now has a huge 30 goals and assists this season, after his brace against Middlesbrough.

What Connor Roberts and Stewart Downing said about Summerville

Summerville blew many away on Monday night with his two goals, particularly his second as well as his gorgeous assist for Willy Gnonto. But prior to the win, the attacker had struggled for his best form.

The winger had scored just two goals in his last 11 games and failed to provide an assist. On Monday he produced more goal involvements than he has in those entire 11 matches with two goals and an assist.

Middlesbrough icon Downing is currently employed by Leeds as the club’s Under-21 assistant manager. Downing said that Summerville looks as if he is now back to his best after the win over his former side.

Connor Roberts chose to hilariously comment on 22-year-old Summerville’s Instagram, simply posting his entire name including three middle names. He is the man of the moment and Leeds need him.
