Serie A club consider offer to sign unhappy Tottenham Hotspur player this summer

Tottenham Hotspur will surely make changes in midfield this summer, even with Lucas Bergvall set to begin his career in North London.

The January transfer window had only just about closed when Tottenham produced a pretty exciting move.

Spurs hijacked Barcelona’s deal for Lucas Bergvall, agreeing a deal to bring the Swedish teenager to Tottenham at the end of the season.

Bergvall will continue playing for Djurgarden before joining up with Tottenham for pre-season and the teenager looks to be a top talent.

Tottenham could still make more midfield changes though with two players expected to depart this summer.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will surely be on his way in search of first-team opportunities having drifted down the pecking order this season.

Then there is Giovani Lo Celso, who returned from an 18-month loan spell at Villarreal and was looking to salvage his Tottenham career.

Napoli want Giovani Lo Celso

The Argentinian featured in pre-season and the signs seemed pretty good with Ange Postecoglou seemingly open to giving him chances.

That is why Tottenham kept hold of Lo Celso through the summer transfer window and through January too.

However, the number don’t look good; Lo Celso has started just four Premier League games this season and just over 50 minutes of first-team action since the end of January.

Lo Celso doesn’t seem to be in the plans and Gazzetta Dello Sport now claim that Napoli are keen to rescue the 28-year-old.

It’s stated that Napoli are ‘thinking about’ a move for Lo Celso as he is ‘not satisfied’ at Tottenham.

Napoli have had a long-standing interest in Lo Celso and with just one year left on his Tottenham deal, this may be the time to strike.

Time for Lo Celso to go

The 2019 summer transfer window was supposed to be the one to take Tottenham forward.

A club-record deal for Tanguy Ndombele followed by the signings of Lo Celso, coming off a 16-goal season at Real Betis, and a top young talent in Ryan Sessegnon.

Fast forward five years and Ndombele is struggling on loan in Turkey and will never play for Tottenham again whilst Sessegnon’s career is being hampered by injuries.

Lo Celso just hasn’t lived up to the hype and it’s time for him to end this disappointing chapter in his career.

Whether it’s Napoli or a return to Spain, Lo Celso needs to move on and play first-team football whilst potentially clearing the way for another midfielder to join Spurs.

Lo Celso has the talent to have been a Tottenham star, but we just haven’t seen it on a consistent basis and a move away this summer is probably best for everybody.
