Report: Chelsea have been impressed by 41-year-old manager who outclassed Jose Mourinho this season

Reports have claimed that Chelsea have been impressed by yet another manager for his work this season so far.

According to The Boot Room, some figures at Stamford Bridge have acknowledged his strong showings this season, as they consider their options ahead of next season.

Mauricio Pochettino is certainly going to be under immense pressure right now for results of late, and their recent showing against Arsenal won’t have helped too much.

They were defeated 5-0 by their London rivals, with them struggling to prove that they could perform in the absence of Cole Palmer, who was missing through illness.

It has been exclusively predicted to The Chelsea Chronicle that the Blues will replace the Argentine at the end of the season, with divide being reported amongst those high up at the club for some time now.

Attention would then have to turn to potential candidates to come in, with the same old names frequently being linked.

However, one name who has now been mentioned as someone who has impressed the Blues is Thiago Motta, currently in charge of Bologna.

The Italian side sit 4th in Serie A, and have really impressed with their style of play this season so far.

A notable strong performance came earlier in the season against Roma, defeating them 2-0 at a time where former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was in charge of them.

However, the report does go on to say that the former PSG midfielder is actually likely to make a move to Juventus for next season, potentially meaning Chelsea need to look elsewhere.

It has been claimed in recent days that Ruben Amorim is a name the club are looking at, with him set to win the Portuguese league this season with Sporting Lisbon and on-fire striker Viktor Gyokeres leading the line for them.
