'Talented' 18-year-old wonderkid now en-route to Arsenal for trial period

Arsenal are reportedly set to shortly bring in an 18-year-old wonderkid from MLS club Colorado Rapids for a trial period.

Gunners’ owner Stan Kroenke has done well in recent years in doing everything possible to give Mikel Arteta the tools needed to succeed in the Premier League, with Arsenal in with a shot of the title this season in part to the American billionaire’s investments into the club.

Yet one interesting trend that has emerged in recent years is Arsenal’s growing connection with the MLS market, with the north London side recently signing Matt Turner and Auston Trusty, with Columbus Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte also reportedly a target for the Gunners.

And it now appears that a youngster from the States is heading to north London.

Colorado Rapids & MLS wonderkid Adam Beaudry set to join Arsenal on trial

According to the Athletic’s Tom Bogert, 18-year-old Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Adam Beaudry is due to join Arsenal for a training stint with the north London club, with the teenager wanted by numerous European clubs.

Bogert wrote: “Colorado Rapids, US youth int’l GK Adam Beaudry is heading to Arsenal for a training stint. Beaudry, just turned 18, highly-rated GK on radar of clubs abroad already. Rapids letting him go to Arsenal & won’t be on the bench for MLS match on Sat. Good support by COL.”

With Arsenal set for a goalkeeping exodus of sorts this summer with Aaron Ramsdale due to leave and Arthur Okonkwo’s contract expiring, the Gunners will be busy in the transfer window trying to rebuild their ranks on this front.

And in Beaudry, Arsenal could have a replacement lined up already for Okonkwo, with Karl Hein another young goalkeeper who could leave north London in the summer with his contract up in the coming months.

Beaudry could be a fantastic long-term signing for the Gunners

Lauded as ‘talented’ by Colorado Rapids manager and former Manchester United coach Chris Armas, there’s a lot to like to Beaudry’s game despite the teenager not making his professional debut yet for the MLS franchise.

Yet for Arsenal, the 18-year-old could be a fantastic long-term signing given how many goalkeepers could leave the north London side this summer, with Beaudry an excellent prospect for the future.

With Arsenal already having the connection with the Colorado Rapids through Kroenke, a deal could be easy to complete if the shot-stopper impresses on trial, something all parties will want to see happen.
