'How it ended': Ashley Young posts two images after Everton's 2-0 win over Liverpool last night

Ashley Young has posted two images after Everton’s huge Merseyside Derby victory over Liverpool last night.

The hosts produced arguably their best performance of the season and landed a massive blow to the Reds’ Premier League title hopes.

It will now take a minor miracle for Jurgen Klopp’s side to lift the title, with Manchester City holding two games in hand.

Goodison Park was at its electric best; the visitors couldn’t deal with the intensity of Sean Dyche’s men.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jarrad Branthwaite stole the headlines with the goals, but there were so many impressive displays from the Blues.

Jordan Pickford was immense, James Tarkowski won nearly every ball thrown his way, and Dwight McNeil didn’t stop running all evening.

Young was introduced at halftime in place of Vitaliy Mykolenko, who, somehow, played on despite badly rolling his ankle.

The 38-year-old isn’t afraid of ruffling a few feathers and posted an interesting message on X on Thursday morning.

“How it began… how it ended. The City is Blue, UTFT,” he wrote. Two images of Young before and after the game followed underneath.

Eventful couple of days for Ashley Young after Nottingham Forest drama

It’s been an eventful couple of days for the Everton defender after his antics against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

His deadpan reaction when being questioned on the three penalty appeals was rather amusing. But he does deserve credit for how he performed last night.

Coming in from the cold against one of Europe’s best attacks was never going to be easy, but the veteran slotted in well alongside Branthwaite and Tarkowski.

Young, along with all Evertonians, must savour this feeling. There won’t be many times when an Everton win will shatter Liverpool’s title dreams. It was special and will be remembered for a very long time.
