'A real coup': Alan Smith says £60m striker would be such a good signing for Arsenal

Arsenal will be in the market for a new striker this summer.

The Gunners have long been linked with a plethora of number nines, and it really does feel like they will get someone through the door in that mould at the end of this season.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been brilliant this season, but it does feel as though they would reach the next level if they managed to sign a lethal centre-forward.

So, who could Arsenal sign?

Well, they’ve recently been linked with a move for Alexander Isak from Newcastle, and speaking to Squawka, Alan Smith has endorsed this move.

Alan Smith says Alexander Isak would be a great signing for Arsenal

Smith spoke about the £60m man potentially joining Arsenal.

“Oh yeah. He’s a big talent. If you could get hold of him, that would be a real coup. I mean, Newcastle would be loathed to sell him because it was an inspired signing by them. And obviously they want to go places, and with Financial Fair Play we know that they might have to sell to buy. But would they want to sell one of the crown jewels? You’d think not, so we’ll have to wait and see,” Smith said.

Alexander Isak would be ideal for Arsenal

There may not be a striker in the world who is better-suited to joining Arsenal.

Alexander Isak is a rare type of striker who literally has it all.

He’s fast, he’s strong, he has incredible feet, he can hold the ball up and his finishing is up there with the best of them.

Isak is an incredible player, and, for that reason, Arsenal may struggle to get him out of St James’ Park.

Indeed, Newcastle won’t be in any rush to sell Isak, but, if Arsenal can pull this one off, as Smith says, it would be a real coup.
