Cooper DeJean goes in the second round of the NFL Draft

Iowa’s Cooper DeJean is off the board in the second round of the NFL Draft. The 6-foot-1, 203-pound Odebolt, IA native was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles at pick No. 40 overall.

At Iowa, DeJean earned unanimous consensus All-American honors as a junior and was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy. He was also named the Big Ten’s defensive back of the year and return specialist of the year this past season.

A two-year starter at Iowa, DeJean finished his career with 120 tackles, 20 passes defended, and seven interceptions including three pick-sixes. As a punt return, he averaged 13.1 yards per punt return with one touchdown.

Now, he is taking his talents to Philadelphia.
